WordPress Themes & Plugins with hidden links
Many websites have been suffering from Google’s Panda algorithm for the past month and many website owners still do not understand why they can not get their websites back to where they used to be.
Until recently we thought that only “bad links” to our website could create a problem but now maybe we have one more explanation.
If you have a wordpress website or blog and you do not understand what may have been wrong and you have been punished, it is time to look at the plugins and theme you use.
After researching, we discovered and present to you some of the plugins that place hidden links in your website in order to deceive Google. The latest Google update also identified this Link Building method and websites that used it were penalized.
Others were punished unknowingly.
Here are some of the plugins that have already been reported for Spam on Google according to Paramarketing:
- YD Recent Posts Widget
- Easy Mashable Social Bar
- Custom Contact Forms
- Easy Popular Posts
- Highslide 4 WordPress reloaded
- Share Buttons by Lockerz / AddToAny
- All in One Webmaster
- Tweet-Retweet-Post 2.0
- Visitor Like / Dislike Post Rating
- Last Year Widget
- KnxDT Bookmarks
- AnupRaj Tell Friends
- Post videos and photo galleries
- Collapsing Categories
- RAX – Google Language Translator
- RAX – Twitter Share Tweet Button And Counter
- IGIT Follow Me After Post Button
- RO Social Bookmarks
- Kontera (very old report, seems they fixed that already)
If you have one of them installed on your blog or website you should check the source code when you logout to one of these plugins you will notice hidden links. It should be noted here that many of the above plugins have been removed from the WordPress directory.
This problem has been observed in wordpress themes, but not to such an extent. In any case you should do a check with the TAC plugin which examines the authenticity of your theme (examines only the theme not the plugins). The result you should have after the test is like the one in the image below.
